Gullivers' South Africa Inspection Trip

Gullivers' Jo Radway took a group of tour leaders to South Africa during May half term for an inspection trip, read Jo's report:

This year the inspection visit to South Africa took in Cape Town, Pretoria and Pilanesberg. As this visit to South Africa coincided with the start of the British and Irish Lions Tour to South Africa, we were pleased to be able to include a ticket to watch the Lions play their first match against Royal XV in Rustenburg.

The itinerary included the standard hotel inspections which gave the tour leaders chance to view the various types of accommodation on offer. There was also plenty of opportunity to meet with local school teachers, as well as to watch local school fixtures in South Africa, where we were welcomed with the warmest hospitality from teachers and pupils alike.

The group experienced a number of excursions first hand that are frequently enjoyed by teams on our sports tours. These included travelling to the top of Table Mountain by cable car, surfing at Muizenberg Beach in Cape Town and going on safari in Pilanesberg. Not to mention the rugby in Rustenburg, with the Lions winning 37-25!

After an enjoyable and busy week checking out the facilities and meeting people in South Africa, all members of the group are considering future tours to South Africa with two tour leaders of the group already confirmed for 2010, when all eyes will once again be on South Africa during FIFA World Cup.
