Official Ashes Appointment for Gullivers
23 Oct 2009 -
Cricket Australia has appointed Gullivers Sports Travel as an Official Licensed Travel Operator for the 3 mobile Ashes Series 2010/11.
Gullivers has a long affiliation with the Ashes, organising its first Ashes tour to Australia back in 1982. This latest appointment adds to a long list of other official appointments Gullivers has received for major sporting events in its 38 year history, including becoming the Official Travel and Tour Provider for the International Cricket Council in 2008, in an eight-year deal.
Gullivers’ managing director John Davison said: “This is Gullivers 8th Ashes tour to Australia and we are excited about returning again as an Official Licensed Travel Operator, especially following England’s heroic 2009 Series win to regain the Ashes! Escaping the UK’s winter for Australia’s sunshine and the opportunity to enjoy Christmas in Melbourne and New Year’s Eve in Sydney always makes this the ultimate tour for cricket fans and our appointment by Cricket Australia means top quality tickets are guaranteed and that supporters can book our tours with confidence.”
Chris Loftus-Hills, tourism manager, Cricket Australia added: “Cricket Australia is pleased to welcome Gullivers on board as an Official Licensed Travel Operator for the 3 mobile Ashes Series 2010/11. The atmosphere at Australian cricket grounds benefits greatly from the presence of international cricket fans, particularly those representing the old enemy, and we are delighted to have Gullivers bringing fans to our shores.”
Official tour packages from Gullivers are due to go on sale at the end of November 2009 when the brochure is released, offering a variety of holidays to take in combinations of the five Tests, with side trips to explore Australia’s iconic destinations like the Great Barrier Reef and Ayers Rock, as well as the option to stopover in a number of Far Eastern and Pacific destinations. Tailor-made Ashes holidays for small groups and individuals will also be available for the more independent traveller.
