John Hall Backs Daily Telegraph's Lions Campaign
01 Jul 2009 -
Gullivers' chairman, John Hall is backing The Daily Telegraph's campaign to incorporate Argentina as a venue for early Lions matches in the future.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph's rugby correspondent Brendan Gallagher whilst in South Africa for the 2009 Lions Tour, John Hall agreed with the idea.
Whilst in the aftermath of the 2nd Test, Ian McGeechan launched a plea for the British & Irish Lions to be given more time to prepare for future Lions Tours, asking for the home unions and domestic competitions to adjust the season.
John Hall said: "I definitely agree with what McGeechan has said about the Lions needing to be given more of a priority and I would also like to add that I like the idea of a Lions pre tour in Argentina.
"The South Africans seemed unwilling to put out proper sides in the early tour games so there is a very strong case for the Lions to tour Argentina at the start of the next tour in 12 years. This would give Argentine rugby some much needed support, but as 12 years is so long away, this maybe could be incorporated in the 2013 Lions Tour to Australia."
