Passports & Visas:
Full Passport required and must be valid for 6 months beyond date of entry. Visas are not required by British citizens for stays of up to 4 months. Other nationalities should check with Embassy. All visitors must hold onward or return tickets and sufficient funds for their maintenance.
Health:
No vaccination certificates are required for travel to Fiji (unless entering from an area infected with Yellow Fever). However, immunisation against hepatitis A, tetanus, typhoid, polio (and in some situations diphtheria, hepatitis B) is recommended. Consult your GP for individual advice.
Currency:
Fijian Dollar (One FJD = 100 cents.) Paper currency is issued in 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 notes. Coins are issued in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cents. £1 = F$3.04 (Dec 05)
Major Credit cards are accepted by most hotels/restaurants/shops and car rental agencies.
An unlimited amount of local and foreign currency may be imported into Fiji. Export up to FJD 500 (Foreign). Always ensure that you have sufficient local currency for your immediate use when arriving at your destination.
Weather:
Tropical oceanic climate. Rainy season is between Nov-Apr, the amount varying with altitude and the effect of the southeast trade winds. Average temps range between 69 - 84 degrees F (20 - 23 ºC).
Eating out:
Fijian dishes such as kokoda (raw fish marinated in coconut cream with a hint of chilli and lime) are found mostly on resort menus. Tropical fruits include passion fruit, guavas, pineapple, mango and lady finger bananas. Nadi and Suva have a good range of Indian, Chinese and International style restaurants, while roadside stalls are great for curry rotis and fried fish. Fish and chips or a roti will cost about $1 and a stir-fry can be bought for as little as $4, while dinner at fancier restaurants can cost up to $25. Yagona rivals Fiji bitter beer as the national drink; a glass of beer will cost about $4.

Clothing:
Lightweights during summer months with rainwear for wet season. Please ensure that upon entry into the country that all sports/walking shoes are clean and free of mud as they may be confiscated to be disinfected which may take several days and will incur a charge to the owner.
