Sports Tours to Chile

Chile is a country of amazing contrasts, stretched out along a narrow strip on the south western coastline of South America, bordering Peru in the north, finishing at Cape Horn in the south. It boasts diverse terrain with desert in the north, vineyards in the central valley and glaciers of Patagonia in the south. 

Much of its eastern border runs parallel to Argentina and the stunning Andes mountain range. Santiago, at its centre, is the capital and heart of the main focus for sports tours to Chile, along with nearby Vina del Mar on the coast.  

Within two hours visitors can be skiing or snowboarding in the Andes, surfing or lazing around on 2,000 miles of coastline or tasting quality wines in its vast vineyards, all with a constant snowy backdrop no matter where you are. 

Football is the most popular and widely followed sport in Chile, practiced by Chileans from all economic backgrounds, it is the one sport that appeals to both young and old that is accessible to all.

Rugby also plays a key role in Chile, popular particularly in the British Schools, where we have strong links and fixtures are never in short supply. Hospitality is second to none due to their keenness to host visiting sides as they strive to improve by playing against teams from bigger rugby playing nations  and compete on an even playing field with their Argentinean neighbours. 

Girls hockey is becoming increasingly popular, although the standard not quite as strong as it is in Argentina. Other sports tours can be arranged for basketball and tennis.

Chile can also be combined with a tour of Argentina and/or Uruguay, but there is plenty to do in Chile to keep you entertained for a two week tour, from the capital city of Santiago, and the diverse cities of Valparaiso and Vina del Mar to the more leisurely activities such as skiing in the Ande’s or the Huilo Huilo Ecological Reserve.
