Caribbean Three Island Fam Trip - 2008

Gullivers' Jo Radway took a group of tour leaders to St Lucia, St Vincent and Bequia in October half term. Read Jo's report:

During our four nights' stay in St Lucia we visited many of the sporting facilities on offer as well as hotel options. The group were particularly impressed with accommodation options on the island and the warm welcome and service offered by the hoteliers.

The sporting facilities that we visited ranged from the rural cricket and netball grounds to the impressive Beausejour Cricket Ground, an international test ground where many of our groups have the opportunity to play.

We also enjoyed a number of the excursions which complement our sporting tours in St Lucia, including a boat cruise to the Pitons and a visit to La Soufriere Drive in Volcano.

St Vincent & Bequia, still relatively untouched by sporting tours, displayed some impressive cricket, netball and tennis facilities. A unique quality of the Arnos Vale playing field in particular is that it is situated next to St Vincent’s small island airport so you can be sure to spot a few LIAT flights coming into land during your game!

Both St Vincent and Bequia are friendly islands and very keen to offer a warm welcome to sporting groups. With Bequia being just a one hour ferry trip away, it is ideally placed for a one off fixture or a day trip where you can take advantage of the long stretches of golden sand on arrival. Be sure to look out for the dolphins chasing the ferry on the way!

All members of the group thoroughly enjoyed the tour and will be looking to tour the Caribbean in the near future.
