Action from Tralee Rugby Festival
Celebrations at Tralee Rugby Festival

Tralee Festival 2009
16-19 April

What a difference a year can make as clear blue skies descended on Tralee and more importantly on the Festival. Two fantastic days of rugby, some typical Irish craic and some dreadful performances from the Gullivers staff on the dance floor at the presentation party!

From the welcome evening at Tralee RFC through to the presentation party on the final evening, there was no shortage of enjoyment both on and off the field. There were some true rugby characters amongst the groups along with matching tour attire which was epitomised by the quilt wearing Scottish side Dalziel. They were joined by the singing Ulstermen from Carrickfergus and Cooke who reminded teams that their abilities were not confined to the action on the pitch. But it was Blackheath who were the ‘biggest’ winners off the pitch as one of their notorious tour members won the giant Toblerone being raffled in the bar.

On the pitch there were some keenly fought battles between teams from across the UK and Ireland and all the teams taking part represented their countries honourably. Everyone really played their part in this rugby extravaganza - so much so that many teams have shown their intent to return in 2010.
