Gullivers organised the Opening Ceremony in Edinburgh Over 2,500 took part in the Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival
Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival, Edinburgh
1-8 September 2008

Gullivers was appointed by Air New Zealand to handle all the ground operations and logistics for the Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival in Edinburgh, a biennial rugby festival for over 35s.

The festival, which took place from 1-8 September, attracted over 2,500 participants from 125 teams, representing 18 countries across the world. Players and supporters from New Zealand, Australia, Japan, USA and countries all over Europe joined together for 7 days of ‘Fun, Friendship and Fraternity’.

The week started off with a bang, with the famous Castle giving a stunning backdrop to the Opening Ceremony, followed by the parade of Nations down the Royal Mile and the Welcome Party in the Spiegel Tent.

The Highland Day Out at Musselburgh racecourse in between the rugby gave the Golden Oldies a chance to watch some Highland Games as well as tasting some traditional Scottish produce. And the week culminated in a superb Grande Finale Dinner, the largest sit down dinner ever held in Scotland. Auld Lang Syne was sung to finish the festival off in the manor which it started.
