Durban
Durban
Durban is home to Africa’s largest and busiest port, and the city is a popular year-round holiday destination due to its tropical climate and fantastic swimming and surfing beaches. Durban’s beachfront is known as the ‘Golden Mile’ – take a ride in a rickshaw and enjoy the sea views! The majority of tourist attractions in Durban revolve around an oceanic theme. Ushaka, a must-see for many tourists, is the southern hemisphere’s greatest marine theme park.
If you want to experience traditional Zulu culture and customs, take a tour to Shakaland and sample traditional Zulu beer, enjoy the traditional dance performances and witness the skill and artistry of their crafts. There is a large Indian population in Durban which makes the city a great place to enjoy a curry, or to experience the sights and smells of the colourful Spice Market. Shopping is good in Durban - the Gateway Theatre of Shopping offers a combination of entertainment and shopping whilst The Pavilion offers shopping in a Victorian-style building. The Victoria Street Market and the Warwick Avenue Triangle offer local African and Indian products from traditional medicines to Zulu artwork or Indian crafts.
